The Mines community has spent the last two years evaluating and streamlining many of our administrative business processes. The results are changing how we are organized, what we do, and how we do it. Technology is one of our greatest needs to change our paper processes into electronic workflows.
Mines has invested in a campus wide, cross functional, integrated document management and workflow system called Workflow. It will create, capture and manage data and content from point of inception, through the information lifecycle, to final archival and destruction. The system implements streamlined business process using electronic forms, electronic routing and approvals, and document management. Many workflows will integrate with Banner and include tracking and reporting capabilities.
Currently, there is a need to further evaluate present business processes and determine the best use of Workflow in meeting the needs of each department. Therefore, the Document Management and Workflow Go-Live date of 6/3/19 is being moved out to a later date. Additional information, including an updated project schedule, can be found here.
Eleven processes within the Registrar’s Office have been identified to go live in the 2020 academic year. Grade Changes will be the first workflow developed and serve as the pilot for the implementation team. See the remaining list of workflows.
As these workflows are developed, testing, training, and roll-out schedules will be communicated to campus. We encourage you to participate in these activities and look forward to your ideas on how we can use this tool to better serve the Mines community.
